This all new 182,000 square foot Police and Fire Department Public Safety building serves as the headquarters for the Police Department and houses the Fire Department's administrative offices, Fire Prevention, and a new City Emergency Operations Center. The building includes a new jail facility and modern dispatch facilities that are coordinated between Police and Fire.
The structure is the first City facility to be awarded the US Green Building Council's LEED Silver certification. Sustainable features include an under floor air distribution system and a large atrium provides day lighting that utilize photocell controlled dimming systems. City of Santa Monica's first major facility designed and built with the intent of minimizing lifecycle impact on the natural environment while providing for the health and comfort of the building's occupants.
