This eight-story, 456,000-square-foot courthouse is situated on a six-acre parcel in Las Vegas’ downtown business and government district. The L-shaped, steel-frame building is made of limestone, marble, granite and aluminum. In addition to offices, complex features 10 courtrooms, plus space for up to eight more to accommodate future growth. Distinct features include a jury-assembly space with clerestory windows for natural light, a secure courtyard for jurors to step outside for fresh air, and a plaza shaded from the desert sun by a large trellis-canopy.

The Courthouse is the first Federal Building built to the post-Oklahoma City blast resistant standards. A large plaza is elevated above street level creating a discrete barricade between the street and the building proper.

VA provided full acoustical consulting services, including acoustical shaping and finishing if the courtrooms, sound isolation and HVAC noise control for this award-winning landmark project in downtown Las Vegas.
