Capital East End Complex
VA Scope: Acoustical Consultation and Audio-Visual Design

Location:
Sacramento, CA
Design Team: Johnson Fain
Completion: 2005
Cost: $392 million
A 1.5 million square foot, five-building complex sited within the key civic grid and on axis with the historic State Capital building. The project consolidates 6,400 employees in the departments of health services, education and general services. Amenities include retail, a community police station, a 300-seat auditorium and child-care center. The design reinforces the civic preeminence of Capital Park by increasing public open space and reinforces the relationship between the park and a diverse neighborhood.
The project represents the State's commitment to energy-efficient building design and the design-build delivery process, and received a LEEDTM Gold Certification.
VA provided acoustical and audio-visual system design/build criteria and guidelines for the interiors with a focus on special function areas such as the auditorium and presentation facilities.
