California EPA Headquarters VA Scope: Acoustical Consultation and Audio-Visual Design  Location: Sacramento, CA Architect: AC Martin Partners; IA Architects Completion: 2001 Cost: $170 million This LEED Platinum building is 25 stories high, 957,000 SF and accommodates 3,000 employees. In addition to office, conference and meeting space, the complex includes hearing rooms, media rooms, a 4,000 SF daycare center, employee cafeteria and a public auditorium. As headquarters for the Environmental Protection Agency, the building features many sustainable features. These include state-of-the-art mechanical/electrical systems, photovoltaic panels on the low-rise roof, charging stations for electric vehicles, an indoors bike room for 150 bikes ridden by Cal/EPA bicycle commuters. Daylight is made available with over 80% of office space filled with natural light. |
